  • Incorporating the Bat symbol onto the Batmobile would help Batman transition into a symbol of hope and inspiration, while also deterring criminals.

The Batmobile driven by Robert Pattinson's Batman is one of the most grounded modern takes on the Dark Knight's iconic vehicle, but there are a few improvements that need to be made ahead of The Batman 2. Matt Reeves' The Batman introduced a new take on the titular vigilante, one designed to be particularly grounded in an especially corrupt Gotham City. Robert Pattinson's Batman won over critics and audiences alike with this realistic approach to the character - an approach which also extended to his most famous vehicle: the Batmobile.

Pattinson's ranks as one of the most practical versions of the Batmobile, but it's not without its issues. Though the car isn't heavily featured in The Batman, it is showcased in an especially memorable chase scene, demonstrating its capabilities and limitations. Though the divisive muscle car design of The Batman's Batmobile was somewhat of a departure from other recent versions, it certainly seemed at home in Reeves' Gotham. However, ahead of Pattinson's return in The Batman 2, there are a number of key improvements to the Batmobile that are sorely needed. Here are 10 such upgrades that the Batmobile needs in The Batman 2.

10 A Batmobile Grappling Hook Could Suit The Batman 2’s Grounded Style

One of the simplest but most useful gadgets that Batman uses is his grapple gun, and his car could benefit from a similar tool. A simple grappling hook attachment for the car could be used in a number of ways, either mid-chase to help catch fleeing criminals or during a vehicular action sequence. It's the sort of realistic and grounded gadget that would match The Batman's world, making it a logical addition to Pattinson's Batmobile for The Batman 2.

9 The Batmobile Needs To Be More Versatile

Though The Batman didn't put the Batmobile on show too often, the scene in which it's most visible saw Batman chasing down the Penguin in torrential rain. The car is shown to have some difficulty in the scene's extreme weather, with Batman skidding and briefly losing control of the car on occasion. Upgrading its tires to make the vehicle more adaptable to weather and terrain would be a perfect way to improve the car ahead of the sequel.

8 A Batmobile Logo Would Help Preemptively Stop Crime

Though it certainly isn't crucial to the Batmobile's battle readiness, incorporating the Bat symbol onto the vehicle would be an excellent upgrade for the car. Similar to how police cars are used to deter criminals, something to visibly mark the car as Batman's would help him complete his transition to a symbol of hope and inspiration rather than vengeance. There are plenty of ways that this could be achieved on Pattinson's Batmobile without compromising the overall look of the car, making it something that would be perfect for The Batman 2's version of the vehicle.

7 A General Performance Upgrade Would Make Crime-Fighting Easier

One thing that was clear in The Batman is that its version of the Batmobile was a work in progress, as Bruce Wayne is seen throughout the film working on the car. This is good, because The Batman's Batmobile may well need some additional fine-tuning ahead of the sequel. Ahead of his chase with the Penguin, Batman stalls the Batmobile and then, at times, has difficulty catching up to Penguin's own vehicle. Improving the car's overall performance to make it more reliable and a little faster would help Batman to use it for crime fighting in The Batman 2.

6 Deployable Spike Strips Would Be Invaluable In Escaping Pursuit

Though Batman is known for his use of high-end gadgets, The Batman's more grounded world makes this something of a challenge. However, an example of a simple homemade gadget that could be employed in The Batman 2's Batmobile scenes is deployable spike strips. Laying down spikes to take out pursuers' tires would support Batman's ability to escape tricky situations and would still make perfect sense within The Batman's world.

5 The Batmobile Could Use Smokescreens To Help Batman's Stealthy Approaches

One of Batman's most useful gadgets hardly made an appearance in The Batman, but adapting his iconic smoke pellets for use in his vehicle would be an excellent upgrade for the Batmobile. Being able to deploy a smokescreen from the vehicle would aid Batman in infiltrating environments using stealth. What's more, The Batman showed him hiding the Batmobile in the shadows, so having it appear out of a smokescreen for the sequel would be a natural progression of this attempt at vehicular stealth.

4 Giving The Batmobile Self-Driving Tech Would Be Perfect For The Batman 2

Though self-driving technology might seem a little too sci-fi for The Batman's grounded world, it's more realistic than it seems and exists in the real world. Adopting similar technology to the Batmobile could facilitate a number of excellent moments in The Batman 2 - Batman could climb onto the roof of the vehicle mid-chase or have the Batmobile drive itself to his location in order to escape a tricky situation. It's a common feature of other Batmobiles, and its real-world applications mean that it isn't too far-fetched to be employed in The Batman 2.

3 An In-Car Computer Would Improve Batman’s Detective Capabilities

The Batman touched on the idea of Batman using a portable computer, but incorporating this technology into the Batmobile itself would be an excellent upgrade for the car. Having a miniature Bat-computer inside the Batmobile would allow Pattinson's Batman to access databases on the go, storing or retrieving information from his Batcave or external sources from the comfort of his vehicle. This is also technology that's largely used in the real world, meaning that it's not too much of a leap for The Batman 2 to see Batman use similar inside the Batmobile.

2 The Batmobile Needs Rear Armor

One of the most obvious upgrades that the Batmobile needs in The Batman 2 is remarkably simple: it needs to be better armored in the rear. For all of the cool gadgets Batman could install on the Batmobile, nothing is more important than making the car as well-protected as possible. In The Batman, the car's engine is completely exposed in the rear, and though the windows and tires are shown to be bulletproof, the engine itself is clearly at risk of damage. Shoring up the Batmobile's armor is absolutely crucial for The Batman 2 because it seemed far too obvious a weakness to leave exposed.

1 The Batman 2 Needs To Feature More Batmobile Scenes

Though not technically an upgrade to the car, one of the best upgrades for the vehicle would be for The Batman 2 to feature more Batmobile scenes. The car is used sparingly in The Batman and isn't showcased anywhere near enough, so remedying this for the sequel by including the car more frequently would be perfect. It would serve to highlight Batman's progression from a fledgling vigilante into Gotham's legendary crime-fighter by having him make better use of his iconic vehicle. The biggest problem with The Batman's Batmobile was that there simply wasn't enough of it, and that's an issue that The Batman 2 can easily fix.
